I was born and mainly raised in İstanbul, Turkey. My family and I moved to Luxembourg when I was young and I had to adapt to the new environment and social life leaving friends and family behind. I believe that this experience alongside my temperament has shaped me into who I am today, giving me resilience, flexibility and open-mindedness in my way of thinking and approaching others. What made the transition easy for me was my attitude being on the positive and joyful side, being eager to meet new people and feeling comfortable in unknown environments. My interest in meeting new people, shifted to better understanding people and their emotions and behaviors thus, from a young age I knew what I wanted to do and have taken courses ever since accordingly. I had experiences in other areas of the field of psychology such as HR however, they only made me certain that a clinical setting is where I see myself fit. As I enjoy working with people towards their goals by using various techniques that match their needs.
I wish to alongside getting to know my patients during our sessions to also getting to know the reasons that brought them to seek out therapy. I believe in goal-directedness so what I want to achieve for my patient is parallel to what my patient wants to achieve for themselves. More often than not, the way one perceives a situation has a bigger impact on one's emotions and behaviors than the situation itself. This is something that will be elaborated on during our sessions until then... As Mahatma Gandhi said: “Your beliefs become your thoughts, Your thoughts become your words, Your words become your actions, Your actions become your habits, Your habits become your values, Your values become your destiny.”
